ONCE UPON A SMILE - what a great bunch of lads.

The team from ONCE UPON A SMILE, well managed by Richard Davies were exemplary in their behaviour and gave a good account of themselves both on the Saturday night Karaoke and on the football pitch the following day. The Stars won 8-3 in a little bit of a one-sided affair. The silky skills of Nico Mirallegro where a joy to behold and alongside Neil Wainwright they were just a little bit difficult to hold for the local lads. Saying that both teams played some good football and nobody was injured too badly, a few knocks etc for the OUAS team, and some of the local players needed to go home and sleep..lol.
The Once Upon A Smile team had a good turn out, and it wasn't about who wasn't there, it was certainly who had arrived. Alex Lawlor, Danny Miller, Dan Jillings, Calvin Demba, Jack McMullan, Charlie Healy, Shane Ritchie Jnr, Neil Wainwright, Derry Mensah, Nico Mirallegro, Dean Smith, Will Rush, Reece Douglas, Jay from the Mend, Danny Tennant and Marvyn Williams.
Local team first half was Jono Curtis, Tony Manning, Roy Slater, Andrew Joseph, Michael Fielding, Ryan Waldock, Damian Turner, Jeff Cowley, Lewis Porter and David Robinson (Captain). The game started with the stars team on top and it wasnt long before Nico scored from the spot and Charlie Healy scoring another. Daventry tried hard to get back in, but were thwarted to many times by a solid defence. Neil Wainwright scored a pearler and the Daventry hit back with a great move which saw Ryan Waldock score. But it wasnt for long and Calvin Demba scored from a mazy run. Calvin then did a series of celebratory rolls which entertained the crowd of just under 500.
Second half Daventry team had Steven James, Daniel Hyde, Kelsey Mytton, Gordon Eyles, Chris Price, Joe Spittlehouse, Gavin Coltar, Carl Pritchard, Martin Spencer, Christopher Trill and Captain David Robinson stayed on. Further goals from Neil Wainwright, Will Rush, sealed the game just as Daventry forced two back with Robinson and Fielding penalty. Finally Nico and Jack Mcmullan scored to finish off an enterprising second half Daventry team.
Trustee of FOOTBALL FC Peter O'Neill handed over two trophies for his Man of the matches, Michael Fielding was presented with the trophy from Jack McMullan and Peter O'Neill (for me Jack was one of the stars from the weekend, first on the karaoke)
Then Peter O'Neill handed over the man of the match trophy to OUAS player Nico Mirallegro, who had a cracking game.

Karaoke night

Facebook was full of pictures of the saturday night event at Daventry Town. every ticket was sold and everyone had a great time with lots of pictures taken. Video's were also taken of the night and the singing at times was great, and at other a bit painful to the ears. The local lads were there to meet the Stars and everyone said they were decent bunch of lads. To get the OUAS over to the venue a call was sent out for some cars to go and pick them up from the Holiday Inn. A really great response from people meant i was turning cars away, so big thanks to those guys and gals that did help us out, Phil Gardner, Rachel Stevens, Lisa and Olivia Barton, Caroline O'Neill, Megan O'Neill and Sophie Walker, Tony Manning and Damian Turner.
